The arch above the forest
Hřensko is a small village on the Kamenice, at the entrance to Bohemian Switzerland, on the German border. From there you climb to Pravčická brána, the largest natural sandstone arch in Europe, and in season there is also a short boat ride in the gorges between the cliffs. This is a nature day, not a museum day.
Tickets for the arch and the boat are paid on site.
Who it suits
Anyone who likes cliffs, a rock arch and walking. Anyone who has already seen castles and wants a different kind of day. It works with children if the climb is matched to their age. It is not the same day as Bohemian Paradise: that is east of Prague, this is north, an arch rather than rock towers.

North along the Elbe
About two hours from Prague, via Ústí nad Labem. On the way, a briefing on Bohemian Switzerland, the park on both sides of the border.

The village of Hřensko
A stop in the village on the river, at the park entrance. Toilets, coffee, and a short briefing before the path.

The climb to the arch
The walk to Pravčická brána. Anyone who tires can shorten it, stay below or wait at the restaurant on the way. Those who continue reach the arch and the view.

The gorges, if the season is open
A short boat on the Edmund or Wild gorge, between cliffs. If it is closed or too wet, we swap in a lower walk along the water.

Back to Prague
The drive back towards evening. A long day, with more walking or less, according to what we agreed in the morning.
